Eugene Forrester graduated from WSU in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in agriculture and a Bachelor's in Education. He taught agricultural science at Ellensburg High School from 1951 to 1972. Eugene was named State Agriculture Teacher of the Year in 1968 and was one of only 25 agriculture teachers nationwide to receive a national award.
He took a position in the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction in 1972 and served as Director of Agricultural Education form 1983 through 1991. Mr. Forrester also served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served on the State Fairs Commission for six years and was chair for three years. He's been a member of the AARP National Policy Council for eight years, is a past State President of the Washington State School Retirees' Association, and a Distinguished Alumni of WSU.
Eugene's goal on the SCPP is to protect retirement benefits for school retirees and to hopefully reinstate an adequate COLA for TRS Plan 1 members.
