Governor Jay Inslee appointed Leanne Kunze Deputy Director of the Washington Federation of State Employees, AFSCME Council 28, to the Select Committee on Pension Policy on June 30, 2018.
Leanne was raised in Minnesota where she worked in criminal justice and child protective services before working for her union, AFSCME, since 2006. Leanne relocated to Washington in 2018 to serve as the Federation's Deputy Director.
As Deputy Director of the Federation, Leanne oversees their Labor Education, External Organizing, Member Connection Center, and Field programs serving over 44,000 public employees throughout the State of Washington.
Leanne received her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Catherine. She has also attended the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs and recently completed the prestigious Trade Union Program at the Harvard School of Law.
Leanne is married with two adult children and a black lab. She enjoys the outdoors, social justice work, and spending time with friends and family.
