New LegSearch customizations

The new LegSearch allows you to customize your search experience (https://leg.wa.gov/search). Check out the following features we offer to all users. These features are not available on our legacy application.

4. Save search criteria and queries in bookmarks

The bookmarks feature allows you to save complex search queries, making it easier to reuse them without retyping. This feature is particularly helpful when searches involve advanced search operators or search facets. By using bookmarks, you can save significant time and effort.

Example of a complex search query:

  • Query: [fish]

  • Filter: Sources: [Bills]

  • Advanced search: Without the words: [license]

  • Meaning: This query retrieves results about fish, excluding any content with license from the source Bill & biennium documents under the Bills filter.

Search for 'fish' in Bill & Law Documents with the Bills filter and an advanced search without the word(s) 'license.'

Bookmarks storage and accessibility

Bookmarks are stored as cookies in the browser, meaning they are device and browser-specific. Users switching to a new device or browser will need to recreate or import their bookmarks.

Bookmarks are not available in the following scenarios:

  • Incognito mode.
