Biography

Picture of SCPP member Dan Legard. Dan J. Legard is the Finance Director/Deputy City Manager for the City of Kennewick, a position he has held since 2011. As Finance Director, Mr. Legard is responsible for all aspects of the City’s finances, including financial reporting and treasury functions, as well as oversight of the City’s $430 million biennial budget. Prior to his current position, Mr. Legard served as the City’s Finance Manager from 2003 through 2010, after beginning his tenure with the City as an Accounting Supervisor in 2002. Mr. Legard currently serves as President-Elect on the Executive Board of the Washington Finance Officers Association (WFOA) and was the Chair of the 2017 WFOA Annual Conference. In addition, Mr. Legard serves as a board member for several non-profit organizations in his community and is currently the Chairman of the Board for the United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties.

Mr. Legard has a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Western Washington University and is a Certified Public Accountant. In addition to his time with the City of Kennewick, Mr. Legard has a broad range of experience in both municipal and private sector accounting and finance including tenures as a Controller for a private sector engineering firm, an Assistant Auditor III with the Washington State Auditor’s Office and a Senior Accountant at a regional public accounting firm.
