How You Can Help

Consider purchasing an item or gift from the Legislative Gift Center or the Secretary of State's State Seal Store. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the state seal and all purchases from the Legislative Gift Center support the Capitol Furnishings Preservation program.

SEEKING LOST TREASURES

One of the most rewarding tasks the Capitol Furnishings Preservation Committee performs is locating historic items that have left the Capitol Group buildings. Throughout its history, furnishings disappeared for a variety of reasons: during modernization efforts, as keepsakes, or by being moved to other locations within state government.

When a historic piece is discovered, the Committee determines its identity by studying archival records and searches for markings of the original furniture makers. For tips on identifying original Capitol furnishings, see "Identifying Historical Furnishings."

You can help locate and preserve historic furnishings by calling us with information on any item that may have originated from the Capitol Group. Please contact:
