- Topic
- Conflict of interest - legislation favorable to employer
- Respondent
- Rep. John McCoy
- Question/Complaint
Complaint alleges the respondent would directly and personally benefit by the passage of a bill sought by his employer which the respondent supported, lobbied his legislative colleagues on, and voted for.
- Summary
Based on the facts "as we understand them to exist at this time," there is no reasonable cause to believe the respondent would personally and directly benefit from the passage of the legislation. Legislators are not automatically prohibited from supporting legislation favored by their employers and most allegations concerning conflict of interest are determined by the facts of the particular case. Complaint dismissed for lack of reasonable cause. RCW 42.52.020
