Complaint Opinion 07-02

​Complaint alleges Respondent used her position as a state officer to secure special privileges from the Department of Corrections on behalf of her son.

​RCW 42.52.070 prohibits state officers or employees from using their positions to secure special privileges or exemptions for themselves or others except within the scope of their employment.  Respondent's son apparently was placed in Respondent's home by the Dept. of Corrections (DOC) absent a complete home inspection and allegedly released from DOC facility earlier than he was entitled.  Complaint alleges Respondent used her office to obtain these results.  Board found no evidence to support reasonable cause to believe Respondent  violated the statute.  Dismissed for lack of reasonable cause.
