Question/Complaint

Alleged that Respondent's acceptance of gifts of travel violated the Ethics Act because the trip was not related to an appearance in an official capacity.

Summary

It was alleged that, among other things, Respondent's travel was unrelated to legislative duties and since she was not traveling in an official capacity the acceptance of free travel constituted a violation of the Ethics Act - RCW 42.52.010(9)(d).  Upon review of the activities taken part in by the Respondent on the trip, the Board determined there was an objectively reasonable nexus with the travel and legislative duties.  Dismissed for lack of reasonable cause.
