Consider purchasing an item or gift from the Legislative Gift Center or the Secretary of State's online store. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the state seal and all purchases from the Legislative Gift Center support the Capitol Furnishings Preservation program.

One of the most rewarding tasks of the Capitol Furnishings Preservation Committee is locating historic items that have left the Capitol Group buildings. Throughout its history, furnishings disappeared for various reasons: during modernization efforts, as keepsakes, or by being moved to other locations within state government.

When a historical piece is discovered, the committee determines its identity by studying archival records and searches for markings of the original furniture makers. For tips on identifying original Capitol furnishings, see our guide to identifying historical furnishings.
