Performance audits
Nonpartisan staff to the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC) do audits and studies for the Legislature.
Purpose and process
JLARC performance audits evaluate how well state government is working. They answer questions like:
- Is the agency meeting goals efficiently and cost effectively?
- Is it helping the people or businesses the Legislature wants to reach?
- Are there ways to reduce costs or better serve the public?
We follow professional standards and base our findings on evidence and laws. Our recommendations do not take political positions or advocate for specific policies. (Chapter 44.28 RCW).
