Biography
Born in Tacoma on May 23, 1950, Brad Owen served 4 years as Finance Commissioner for the City of Shelton, 6 years in the House of Representatives, and 14 years in the Washington State Senate before his 1996 election to the office of Lieutenant Governor. Lieutenant Governor Owen has dedicated his term of service to providing leadership in public health and safety, emphasizing substance abuse and prevention. He was the chair of Washington State Mentors, as well as the former chair of the Legislative Committee on Economic Development and International Relations. He also served on the advisory board for the Drug Free America Foundation.
